How to say it

To talk about football, a sport invented in England, the French use a lot of English words. But gradually, tir has replaced shoot and gardien has replaced goal. That said, we still continue to say corner and penalty, the French equivalent of which are seldom used.

Did you know?

When a player commits a fault, the referee can give a warning or a yellow card.
If the player commits a dangerous fault, he gets a red card and has to leave the pitch.
